Is there an early rock & roller who has a crazier reputation than the Killer, Jerry Lee Lewis? His exploits as a piano-thumping, egocentric wild man with an unquenchable thirst for living have become the fodder for numerous biographies, film documentaries, and a full-length Hollywood movie.
The world's most powerful and effective singing lessons. Perfect pitch, incredible range, amazing power, and super confidence.
On the heels of his landmark recording "Last Man Standing", Jerry Lee Lewis speaks candidly about his 50-year recording career, and, for the first time, demonstrates the piano style that defined rock-n-roll. On "Killer Piano", Jerry discusses his youth and career, reminisces with his family, and demonstrates many of his favorite rock-and-roll and country songs. Plus, the DVD is hosted by Linda Gail Lewis and features a complete live concert with Jerry's band at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. Also included is historic footage from Jerry's first appearance on the Steve Allen show, rare family photos, and printable sheet music transcriptions that pianists can use to study and learn Jerry's pivotal style.
Walter Furry Lewis (1893-1981) was born in Greenwood, Mississippi, but lived virtually his entire adult life in Memphis, Tennessee. He recorded 25 sides between April of 1927 and September of 1929, and several albums in the 1960s for Folkways, Prestige, and other labels after being rediscovered by Country Blues researcher Samuel Charters. A period spent performing with a medicine show as a young man provided Furry with on-the-job training as a musician and entertainer. Furry was a study in contrasts - he was a stellar showman whose gift for storytelling never altogether made you forget how superb his guitar playing was.
