Ben Robinson retraces the dramatic last days of King John, England's most disastrous monarch, and uncovers the legend of his lost treasure. Ten days took King John from ruler of an empire to sudden death, and left the kingdom in ruins. John is famous for the creation of Magna Carta, which inspired our modern democracy. Ben follows in the footsteps of the King's epic last journey, from the treacherous marshes of East Anglia, through Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, to his final resting place in Worcester. He is joined by medieval historian professor Stephen Church. Together they examine the truth behind the legend that has lived on for 800 years.

Pope Francis will be the second pope to ever visit Ireland when he arrives in August 2018. For tens of thousands of Northern Irish Catholics it will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance - and for some lucky devotees, their second - to see and hear the Holy Father in person. In this warm and uplifting film, we explore people's relationship with the pope and how it has changed over the decades. For most of the 20th century, it would have been difficult to find a Catholic home in Northern Ireland that didn't exhibit a picture of the pope. In fact throughout history, his Holiness has always had a very special place in the hearts of the nation's faithful.

Rameau’s secular chamber cantatas are early works, written before he got his longed-for chance to compose for the stage. While they are clearly the works of a talented and skilled artist, it has to be admitted that they only hint at the powerful personality and individuality of the operas. Yet even that is something to be valued from someone like Rameau, and we can be glad that London Baroque have made them the subject of one of their relatively rare excursions into French repertoire.

Gregg Wallace explores the Nottinghamshire factory that produces 250,000 jars of curry sauce each day. Gregg makes a supersized 3,000-kilo batch of tikka masala - enough to feed 25,000 people. Meanwhile, Cherry Healey is in Guntur, the chilli capital of India, where they sell 3,500 tonnes of chilli each day. She helps to harvest the chillies on a typical small-scale farm, dries and packs them down then follows them through processing into chilli powder. Historian Ruth Goodman finds that our passion for curry is around 370 years older than the supposed invention of tikka masala in a Glaswegian restaurant in the 1970s. She recreates a 1747 recipe for rabbit curry, and learns that the word 'curry' itself is a misunderstanding of the Tamil word 'kari'.

Due at least in part to Naïve's growing catalogue of exemplary recordings of the relatively obscure operas of Antonio Vivaldi, more and more singers are happily turning to his vast operatic output as a source of new material. Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozená brings an earthy emotionality to this selection of arias that is weighted toward the ravishingly lyrical, but which also includes the floridly virtuosic.

Gregg Wallace explores the Grimsby factory that processes 165 tonnes of fish a week and produces 80,000 cod fish fingers every day. Cod arrives at the factory as compressed blocks of frozen fish. The blocks weigh exactly 7.484 kilos, which is a standardised measure in every fish factory right across the world. Gregg watches as each block is cut into 168 naked fish fingers which are then floured, battered and breaded, ready for a quick 45-second trip through the fryer. He also helps take delivery of 25 tonnes of liquid nitrogen, used to flash freeze the fingers at minus 15 degrees C. But Gregg is amazed to discover that the fish inside the finger remains frozen through every stage of production, right up to the moment you cook it at home.

Gardiner illuminates Alceste's subtle colors and inflections, assisted by von Otter, whose perceptive performance as Alceste is one of emotional sincerity and spot-on vocal accuracy.
Despite being a watershed between baroque and classical opera - and a major influence on Mozart, Berlioz and even Wagner -Gluck (1714-87) is still best known today for one opera. Orfeo ed Euridice might be a masterpiece but it's one that has tended to overshadow his other fine achievements.
